Welcome to Music!
Teacher: Mrs. Judy Sherbo, jsherbo@stclarepdx.org\
As you can imagine, November and December were full of Christmas program rehearsals, and now we're back into the delight of music education. Melody is the hot topic for January. First graders are connecting the music alphabet with xylophones and singing fun melodies for games. The staff is the focus of 2nd grade's work and grades 3-6 are learning, reviewing, or reinforcing the treble and bass clef lines and spaces. Beautiful melodies have been heard throughout the music room compliments of the 3rd grade phone number compositions. 4th grade is preparing to party at the Gumbo Dinner on January 28th. We've got some new melodies this year which will swing the house. Music of Haydn, Vivaldi, and Handel have been blaring from the CD player in the middle school. Who can forget the big outing for 7th and 8th graders when they will hear the magnificent music of Puccini's "Madame Butterfly" at Keller Auditorium? This will be the 9th year for our attendance. Can you believe the 2nd graders have even enjoyed the dulcet tones of Ethel Merman as she belts out Gerswhin's "I've Got Rhythm"? We're having too much fun!
