Roberta Miller, Class of 1971 – St. Clare School Distinguished Graduate 2019

 First Communion

As her sister Beth so aptly described her: “She is my longest friend…”  Numerous people within the St. Clare community might say the same. Fondly known as the “hot lunch lady”, our dear Roberta has touched the lives of hundreds of students, parents, and friends of the school through her warm and welcoming presence in our kitchen since 1998. She is a constant loving presence who approaches her work as a calling and devoted ministry.  Roberta knows EVERYONE, and has that uncanny ability to make everyone she meets feel special and welcome.

 Young student

Baptized in 1957 here at St. Clare, Roberta grew up in the Molin family, long-time parish members.  (Her father, Robert Molin, was honored with this award in 2013, as the school’s first Distinguished Graduate.) While in school, she was an active member of “Theater 21”, a drama group under the direction of Leon Pike, where she performed in such works as A Christmas Carol, You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown (she played Peppermint Patty), and The Importance of Being Earnest.  She also enjoyed being part of a folk dancing group, and played adult volleyball on Tuesday nights.  In November 1976 she married Michael Miller at St. Clare Parish, and together they have raised four kids together (Joshua, Samantha, Cari, and Robert).

“Peppermint Patty”

Roberta has devoted her time to many areas of parish life over the years, including the Irish and Spaghetti dinners; wedding coordination; Junque and Jewels; and Celebration of Life.  She and her husband Michael have prepared and served food for Holy Communion and Confirmation retreats, and even bunked down in the cafeteria to “watch over” the school during the Holiday Markets the school used to hold every November.  Together they have also painted many classrooms and offices at the school during her “quiet” summer months off!

We are so grateful for you, Roberta!  Thank you for being a model example of a

St. Clare School Distinguished Graduate.  Congratulations!
