We have our first religion chapter test for unit 1 on Friday. Students will use their chapter review as a study guide. We are memorizing 5 traditional Catholic prayers from our book "What the Church Teaches and Believes" pg. 53. Students will recite them to me on an individual basis during the week of 10/17.

We also have a vocab test on Friday. Students always have the opprotunity to earn a bonus point on their test if they do a practice test on the website www.vocabtest.com, print it out, or email it to me.

10/3

We are on Unit 3 in vocabulary this week. Parents should expect homework in vocabulary on a nightly basis. Even if your student has completed the activities in the book, 15-20 minutes should be devoted to studying the words, the definitions, the parts of speech, and the accent marks. Accent marks always seem to present a challenge on the test.

We are still working in writing workshop groups on our compare/contrast essay. Students will be meeting with me individually to go over areas of their essays that they need to work on for the final, typed essay.

We will be looking at Shakespeare's biography and a history of the play Romeo and Juliet before we tackle some of the scenes and his language.
