Who are you guys anyway?

At the end of every year the SAC brings on new members (see
New Member
Process). Our By-Laws state that we
can go up to twelve members, not including the principal and the pastor. Members serve a three year term.
The SAC operates as a “self-perpetuating” council in that
the SAC itself actually selects the new members. We look for people with certain skill sets
who can bring specific knowledge to the table.
For example, we need to bring on an accountant or financial person every
year so our Finance Committee can operate smoothly as one is always rolling off
the council.
In reality, we utilize a hybrid approach to selecting new
members with potential members coming forward themselves and attending a
special SAC meeting so we can get to know one another. After that, our principal and pastor
facilitate a Discernment Process where the actual members are selected for the
following year. During this time, our
returning members go through a Recommitment Process where they self-reflect on
their commitment to the mission and vision of
We are working very hard to ensure that our members are
aligned with St. Clare’s unique mission and vision, but sometimes it can take a
little time to figure out just how the SAC functions.
