New Member Process
Adopted Proposal:
· Nominations
o Letters in Dragon Post and Parish Bulletin - 2-3 weeks beginning mid-March (draft to be reviewed with SAC March meeting)
o Generate “prospects” list at March SAC meeting for “recruiting contacts” to be made to supplement passive solicitation (letters)
o Direct all candidates to contact P, P &P Committee Members or SAC Chair for more info. about the SAC and to obtain the new member “application” form
· Nominee Applications
o Will ask for very brief “bio” type information (family, education, current occupation, etc.) and response to 3-5 basic criteria which are consistent with the SAC Member Recommitment Evaluation criteria.
o Applications will be due to P, P & P by first week of April (electronically)
o Applications will be immediately distributed to SAC members for review in advance of the April SAC Meeting
· Nominee Discernment and Election
o Applicants will be invited to the April SAC Meeting
o Each Applicant will be asked to briefly introduce themselves, and then will be asked a consistent set (2-3) of questions to provide responses. Follow-up questions or discussion will follow, where applicants are also able to ask questions of SAC members. All applicants will then be dismissed, after re-confirming their interest to apply for SAC.
o In Executive Session, SAC members will be asked to evaluate applicants (based on applications pre-submitted and the April meeting interviews) via discernment, and then cast their “yeah votes” for each applicant.
o Each SAC member will get the same number of “yeah” votes as there are open positions for next year’s SAC.
o In the event that there is a tie for the “last” open position, those (tied) candidates will be turned over to the “executive nomination committee” for final determination. This committee will be comprised of the Pastor, Principal, SAC Chair and SAC Co-chair.
· New Member Notification
o A letter will be sent to all new members notifying them of their selection, and including specifics around future meetings, membership list, etc. In addition, new members will be invited to the annual SAC Planning Retreat before the end of the school year.
o A formal letter of gratitude will be sent to ALL applicants who participated in the process and were not selected for membership.
o Letters will be drafted by the P&P Committee and sent out by the Chair of the SAC.
