Annual Planning Process

Adopted Proposal – effective March, 2003

 

Goal:

Develop a specific annual planning event to build SAC level and sub-committee goals and specific work plans for the following school year, leveraging the insights and experiences of “outgoing” members as well as the energy and input of “incoming” members.

 

Desired Outcomes:

·        Develop and Agree on List of Priorities and “Deliverables” for the SAC for the upcoming school year.

·        Development of Sub-Committee Goals and Work-plans to enable immediate engagement for the new year and clarify roles and expected contributions for the sub-committees.

·        Overall Alignment of Vision and Commitment for the SAC

 

Proposed Agenda:

4 hour session, including group lunch.  Times indicated are time blocks, actual agenda will be updated based on scheduling of the meeting.( e.g., 9am to 1pm)

 

 

0:00 – 1:00

·        Evaluate goals, needs, desired outcomes for SAC for the upcoming school year. 

·        Develop priorities and refine objectives.

·        Provide/validate list of key milestones (ex. Town Hall Meeting, Adopt-A-Student, etc.) for SAC involvement

·        Evaluate Committee Structure and Assign SAC Goals and Responsibilities to Committees.

1:00 – 2:00

·        Break into Sub-committee Teams

·        Develop Detailed Goals and Create Month-by-month Work Plans for sub-committee work (including deliverables by month, using monthly SAC meetings as key planning milestones)

·        Template and laptops to be provided for real-time planning

2:00 – 3:00

·        Sub-committees “pitch back” their individual work plans to the council for feedback and input.

·        Overall calibration of work streams

3:00 – 3:30

·        Sub-committees refine work-plans based on feedback.

3:30 – 4:00

Group Lunch/Refreshments and Socialization (depending on timing of Planning Session)
