How can I be involved?

We’ve been waiting for you to ask this question!  There are numerous ways for parents and parish members to interface with SAC.  First and foremost, if you have a question, please ask us!  The names and phone numbers of the SAC members are posted by their committees.  If you have a question that seems to fit within the scope of their work, give them a call.  If you’re not sure, call our chair.  We select our chair based on many valuable skills, but the most important one is being a fabulous conversationalist!

Secondly, get involved in our other parish councils.  Many of the issues the SAC works on are related to work going on in our other parish councils.  For our parish to be strong, we need all the Quad Councils (SAC, Administrative Council, Preschool Council, and Pastoral Council) to be functioning at optimum.  Please call the parish office at 244-1037 for contact names.

Want to sit in on a SAC meeting?  They are open meetings and anyone can attend.  The Archdiocese has a few guidelines for visitors and you should familiarize yourself with them before you come.  Our meetings take place in the faculty room which is upstairs next to the Daycare room, at 6:00pm on the second Thursday of the month.  It’s a good idea to call a SAC member first just to make sure the meeting hasn’t been rescheduled due to a conflict (say Valentines Day – we love each other, but not that much).

Occasionally, certain committee work dictates that we put together an ad hoc group to work on various issues.  If we know that you are interested we’ll try to get you involved.  If you would like to have the SAC look into an issue, contact us and we’ll let you know if we can help.  Many times it helps just to have our community put things on our radar screen.

Want to take this a step further and consider being a member of the SAC?  Now we’re talkin’.  The new member process begins in earnest in March.  Please let the chair, a SAC member, or the principal know that you are interested and we will get you the necessary information (new member application).  One plug that must be mentioned is that SAC members have their Parent Involvement Program (PIP) fees waived during their terms - we won’t mention why, we’ll just let folks figure that one out for themselves!
