PRINCIPAL'S
CORNER
I am happy to report that
all six of the SMARTboards
are up and running.
Both teachers and students are trilled with what it can do. Both are using the board as it is so user friendly
and easy to maneuver. I saw Ms. McQuade demonstrate a graphing equation, and watched the
line change position as the equation changed.
She also was able to demonstrate what happens to a test tube of
hydrochloric acid when other elements are mixed with it. The visual demonstrations speak for
themselves! I used a DVD for a lesson on
the Forgiving Father in 4th religion using the SMARTboard. It also acts as a DVD player with the new
laptops I purchased. You will be hearing
of many more ways in which teachers are presenting lessons in class. I’m sure kids in 4th –8th grades have already
told you about their experience with it.
The in-service for teachers will take place after school on May
19th. Thanks again, parents, for helping
us to make this project come alive in the classroom. We are still waiting to hear on grants to
support the purchase of seven more SMARTboards. I’ll keep you posted.
Today we are celebrating EARTH
DAY.
Students may wear their newly purchased Earth Day tee-shirts. Those who do not have them on should be in
uniform. Lorrie Vogel, school parent,
and General Manager of NIKE Considered, will make a presentation to our 4th—8th
graders on how they can positively impact our environment. We are most grateful to Lorrie for volunteering
to do this.
Our 6th through 8th graders have been feverishly working
on their science projects. All are
welcome to attend the preview of SCIENCE FAIR projects
which will begin at 6:30 pm, tonight, April 22nd. See you there!
Rounding out our week will be our famous FITNESS
CHALLENGE co-chaired by Jamie Price and Heidi
Brown. Here is the schedule in hopes
that you are able to drop by and root for our kids.
