STUDENT INSURANCE: Parents, I am pleased to tell you that your child will have additional insurance coverage next year through an Archdiocesan group insurance plan.  This comes at no added cost to you!

The plan covers all students for injuries caused by accidents occurring:

* On school premises during the hours and on the days when the school’s regular classes are in session, including one hour immediately before and one hour immediately after regular classes, while the Covered Person is continuously on the school premises.

* Participating in or attending school sponsored and directly supervised activities including interscholastic activities and non-contact spring football (except interscholastic high school tackle football).

* Traveling directly and without interruption to or from home and school for regular attendance and to or from school and off campus locations to participate in school sponsored and directly supervised activities, provided such travel is arranged by and is at the direction of the school

* Traveling in school vehicles at any time.

* Covers Emergency Sickness up to $1,000 maximum.  Emergency Sickness means a sickness of such nature that failure to get immediate medical care could put the person’s life in danger or cause serious harm to bodily functions.

* The Plan generally (there are some inside limitations) covers 80% of Reasonable and Customary charges up to $25,000 per injury and is excess to or secondary to other insurance (if applicable).  There is NO deductible.

This description of coverage is intended as a brief summary of the Plan.  Myers-Steven & Toohey & Co, Inc. is the insurance carrier.  They will forward additional information to be provided to covered students in the fall of 2006.

SPRING FEVER: We are currently dealing with some misbehaviors in our school bathrooms.  There have been a number of incidences of peeing on the floor (boy’s bathroom), writing on the walls of the stalls (girls’ bathroom), and  “atomic flushing,” (boy’s bathroom).  Since I had to ask, for your information, an “atomic flush” is when you flush the toilet or urinal twice successively resulting in an explosive backwash!  Yes, this is a new one on me, too!

We are taking measures to correct this problem and would appreciate your input from home.   I think it is important to explain to your kids that “tattling” is wanting to get someone in trouble, and “reporting” is wanting to get help for someone or help for yourself.  There is a distinct difference.  We’d like our kids to take the higher ground and stand up for the standard we’ve set for our students.  Your help and influence is always appreciated.

FITNESS CHALLENGE: As you already know, we moved the Fitness Challenge to the springtime to spread out the fundraisers a little more, and hopefully, count on better weather.  We will kick off the start of the Fitness Challenge at an assembly today at 1:45.  Amy Marconi and company will give the kids a jumpstart to soliciting sponsors.  Please, once again, help us motivate our kids to make this another whopping success.

ENROLLMENT IS CLIMBING! For the 05-06 school year, enrollment stands at 227 students.  For the 06-07 school year, enrollment is at 223 students with a good number of interested families continuing the process for registration.  We will have four interested students visiting our school this week.  I continue to welcome new families to view our school and learn more about our program.  If you know of anyone, please tell them I’ll roll out the royal carpet for them and give them our #1 super-duper sales pitch and tour!

REMEMBER, 6th graders leave for Outdoor School on April 2nd!

Have a great Spring Break everyone!
