PENNIES FOR THE POOR
We have kicked off our campaign for "Pennies
for the Poor". Please have your child bring in their
pennies and deposit them into their classroom jug. Of course we
will also accept any silver or paper money as well. We have set a
school goal of $1800 or $200 per classroom. We will be keeping a
thermometer to watch our progress as we inch closer to our
goal.
We are happy to announce that we have a very generous
anonymous donor who has offered to match the two highest class
collections in the school for our Pennies for the Poor Campaign. So
let's do our very best and watch the thermometer rise!
We will be needing the pennies transported to the
Downtown Chapel at the end of the drive so if you are so inclined to help
out in this area please contact Mrs. Cree or Mrs. Kollars and let them
know you can help.
ONLY TWO WEEKS LEFT TO APPLY FOR F.A.C.T.S.!
We would still like to encourage all those who might
need tuition assistance to pick up a form from the office.
Submission for the application and fee needs to be turned into F.A.C.T.S.
by March 17th. We were very fortunate to receive additional aid
with donations and matching gifts from this year's paddle bid. If
you need help, please take advantage of this wonderful gift that has been
given to us. We will not spend out the entire amount raised, but will
apportion at least half of it to the 07-08 school-year in order to serve
as many families after this year. All information is kept in
the strictest confidence. Please let us help you, if the need is
there. If you have any questions or concerns please contact Sr. Moe
at moe@aracnet.com or 503.244.7600.
KINDERGARTEN REMINDER
This Friday, March 10th is a noon dismissal for
everyone. Therefore, there will be no PM kindergarten today.
BASC will be open as normal.
FOURTH GRADE MENTORS
St. Clare students have been given a wonderful
opportunity from Mrs. Melzer, Preschool Director. Every month, the
fourth grade class goes downstairs, divides into five groups and goes
into each of the classrooms for 45 minutes.
They interact with the children, blend into the
class and join in with whatever the kids are working on. The
following month, the same groups rotate to a different class so that over
a period of five months, they will have been in each classroom. Spending time with the St. Clare
preschool kids gives the 4th graders an opportunity for service, a chance
to mentor children younger than they are, and it's a great way to spend
an hour of their day. The preschool kids love it when their 4th
grade buddies come to spend time with them.
The fourth grade loves every minute being the
"big" buddies of the preschool students. They would like
to thank Mrs. Melzer for giving them this enriching and wonderful
experience.
