Patty and I are embarking on a very busy time in the office with
registration for 2006-2007. We gladly take on the challenge of
trying to reach 228 students! Open House last week brought
us 35 interested families! Though most were interested in
Kindergarten, the inquiries from about 10 families were for grades 1-8.
New families are anxious to hear if there is room in the grade they
wish to enroll their child. Of course, we want to register our own
families first, but the deadline for registration for St. Clare School families has come and gone.
We now have to open up our classrooms to those new from St. Clare
parish. If you have not completed your registration packet yet,
please let us know by email or a phone call if you plan to enroll.
We can’t hold off new parents for very long as other Catholic schools in
the SW area are also doing registration and new families are nervous to
get a spot somewhere.
Your role in helping us increase enrollment is crucial. Please
send interested parents our way. I’m happy to meet with them,
answer their questions and take them on tour. While marketing is
very time consuming, it is a priority. We want as many as possible
to enjoy the wonderful Catholic education our teachers provide.
Thanks so much for any help you can give us.
Next week is Catholic Schools Week. We shared with you
in our last issue the events of CSW and hope that you can join us for the
all school liturgy on Thursday, Feb. 2.
I encourage you to craft some dinner table talk around the subject of
what it is in Catholic educa tion that we value so much. See if
your kids can articulate what they love about their school. This
might also be a good time to think about what they would like to express
to their teachers when they write their thank you letters to be delivered
on Friday, Feb. 3.
I would like to invite all those parents who regularly do volunteer
work for our school to a reception in your honor in our library Friday
morning, Feb. 3 from 8:00-8:45 a.m. You are never thanked enough,
so please accept this invitation so we can do so more up close and
personal.
Many people make our school a happening place. St. Clare
parishioners support our school with $100,000 in subsidy, plus the
Adopt-A-Student Fund, and they pray for the success of all of our
students. You, our parents, coach, drive, cajole, encourage,
challenge, and support your kids in so many ways. Fr.
Tom is present and eager to help our school and anyone associated with it
at a moment’s notice. Our teachers, while here to teach, care for
the very soul of every child. Their investment in your greatest
love is one of the most important reasons you choose
us. Our students are very blessed. I trust we are
raising kids who will be great moms and dads, honest and caring
employers, moral and ethical leaders in a world thirsting for peace and
justice. From the most biased principal this side of the Mississippi, I
believe Catholic education does make a difference in our world!
