ST. CLARE TOWN HALL MEETING
I’d like to take this opportunity to thank all of
you who attended last week’s Town Hall Meeting. All in all it went
very well. I think we were able to show the big picture of the
successes and needs of our school. I would like to remind you that
all of the PowerPoint presentations can be found on our website, http://www.stclarepdx.org/.
The State of the School PowerPoint can be found under “Principal’s
Corner”, the School Advisory Council’s PowerPoint on finances can be
found under “Boards and Committees” on the SAC page and the Parent
Teacher Council PowerPoint can be located under “Boards and Committees”
on the PTC page.
We now move on to our Open House scheduled today at
9:00 a.m. and tomorrow evening at 7:00 p.m. Please remember that
the best way to market St.
Clare School
is through you. Tell your friends, family, neighbors and the
people on the street about our school. Let them know why you choose
St. Clare for your children and tell them about your positive experiences
and the caring community that they will experience once they enter our
doors.
Currently, (05-06) we have openings in grades K, 2,
3, 4, 6, and 7. With your help we will be able to reach our goal
this year of 228, and maybe even reach full capacity!
CATHOLIC SCHOOLS WEEK
Catholic Schools' Week is a celebration of the gift
of St. Clare School
and all Catholic education. We spend each day of the week
celebrating the benefits of a faith-based education. This year's
theme is “Character, Compassion, Values.” Please review the
events for the week.
Monday, January 30th: We will begin the school day with an
all school assembly in the gym in family groups. Sr. Moe and the
Student Council will kick off the week with a Catholic Schools' Week
Presentation. Students will begin special service activities today
in the surrounding community.
Tuesday, January 31st: There will be special activities today
selected by Student Council. Children will also be affirming each
other in a positive way through special notes and acts of kindness.
Wednesday, February 1st: Students will write short prayers for our
nation making a paper chain with all class chains joined together to hang
in our hallway. Information will also be available to write to a U.S. serviceperson in Iraq or Afghanistan.
Thursday, February 2nd: There will be an all-school liturgy at 8:30
a.m. One student from each class will share a story from the Monday
student outreach service projects. Stand Out and Shine Awards will
be handed out and Sr. Moe, Sr. Dolores and Fr. Tom will be invited to
share about their vocations.
Friday, February 3rd: We will celebrate volunteers of the school
with a morning coffee hosted by Sr. Moe.
TEACHER APPRECIATION DAY,
FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 3RD
Parents and students, since Friday, Feb. 3 is
Teacher Appreciation Day, I invite everyone to let your child's
teacher know how they are appreciated with a little note from you, your
family or your student. Notes can be handed to your teacher that
Friday morning. I know they will be the hit of the week!
