PRINCIPAL’S CORNER

Dear Parents,

Colleen O’Mahony, our Learning Specialist, comes to us with much experience in assessing student’s learning styles and learning deficiencies.  Already I’ve seen what a huge help she has been to teachers, parents and students in coming up with action plans to increase success for students who ordinarily struggle with some aspect of learning or who need to be challenged as exceptionally bright children.  Learning is impeded by simply getting thoughts written on paper, taking tests, organizing thoughts, processing information, and so on.  I urge you to come to her parent education series to find out more about how your child learns and how you can help.   In the field of education, teaching and learning today is not a simple lesson plan!  Teachers are asked more and more to teach to multiple intelligences, and to provide modifications and alternative options for students to let us know what they’ve learned.   We’re very fortunate to have Mrs. O’Mahony and the Learning Specialist department a part of our school.  Come and be enlightened on Wednesday, January 19th at 7:00 p.m. in the cafeteria.
