BIG NEWS ANNOUNCEMENT!

At their December 8th meeting, the School Advisory Council approved a full-day Kindergarten for the 2006-2007 school year.  Mrs. Maher will have a full-time aide to assist her with, what we hope will be, 28 students.  We will begin our enrollment campaign beginning January 10th with a Town Hall meeting for our returning families.  Please mark your calendars for 7:00 p.m. in our cafeteria.  You will hear all about our budget for next year, tuition costs, what you will be investing in, and discussion about possible new funding options.  We invite your input when planning for the future of our school.  Please tell your friends about our Open House scheduled for Tuesday, January 17th at 9:00 a.m. and January 18th at 7:00 p.m.  This will be all new families first opportunity to register for next year!

"Rate My Teacher.com"

"Face Book.com"

"My Space.com"

What are these?

It has come to our attention that there are some websites that parents should pay close attention to.  These sites can be very interesting to read and also,  very dangerous, hurtful and damaging.  I am speaking about three in particular:

www.ratemyteacher.com

www.facebook.com

www.myspace.com

All of these sites allow children to comment on each other and their teachers.  One of these sights even allows your child to let kids be their friends while they refuse to let others in.  I am sure some people consider these sites a way for children to express their feelings but there are times comments are carried too far.

Just as we monitor what sites our children visit while  surfing the web, we might take the time to monitor what they may be reading or writing.   Sometimes it is tempting and very convenient to write inappropriate  slander on the web when no one is looking and one can remain anonymous.   It becomes a very intentional way of ruining reputations and hurting feelings.  Technology is great, but not in this case!!

CHRISTMAS PROGRAM

Parents, we are so excited to welcome you to this year’s program.  Mrs. Sherbo has “drummed” up another great opportunity for our kids to shine.  We will open the doors to the church at 6:30 p.m.  Please do not try to enter the church before that time.

Students have been asked to dress up for this occasion.   Parents, we would appreciate your help after the program to take down risers, put instruments away and take down chairs.  Thank you.

We invite you to move to the cafeteria after the program to enjoy cookies and a drink and great company among our St. Clare families. Don’t forget your cameras!
