Dear Parents and Students,
I regret to inform you that Bridgette McCown,
our BASC Director, will be leaving in June to go back to school and
pursue another career. She has thoroughly enjoyed her time here,
and has certainly organized our BASC program into a smooth-running and efficient
operation. Students and parents have enjoyed the variety of
offerings provided under her leadership. Our kids have been in good
hands. I thank her for all she has accomplished in the
program, especially gaining good staff to help work with our students,
and setting up organizational systems that work. We wish her our
very best as she undertakes new studies.
I have posted the opening for this position on
the Archdiocesan website. Hopefully, by the end of the school year
I can announce her replacement.
On another note, I encourage you to talk with
your kids about Pope John Paul II. Here are some websites that
might help you explain at a child’s level. You can be assured that
we, too, are talking about the papacy and the elections that are coming
up in the next couple of weeks.

EIGHTH GRADE RETREAT
The 8th
grade retreat took place yesterday at the Evangelical
Center under the direction of
Joe Leahy, former St. Clare Youth Minister, and Mrs. Kollars. It
was a great time for them to reflect on their years at St. Clare and the
high school adventure ahead of them. I’m grateful to Chris Griffith
and Will Mehigan, former students and now Jesuit sophomores, who gave our
students great advice about how to get involved, what to look out for, what
to avoid, and how to have fun!! I’m also grateful to Mrs. Kollars
for doing all the preparation for this overnighter. The kids didn’t
get to sleep until 1:15 a.m.!!!!!
