PARENT INVOLVEMENT PROGRAM (PIP)
Strong parent involvement and the spirit of community
among families are two of St. Clare’s many strengths. The school’s Parent Involvement Program
(PIP) provides important and enjoyable opportunities to be involved in your
child’s education. The sharing of your
time and talents creates for your whole family a unique and positive connection
to other school families who share your commitment to quality education, faith
development and the nurturing of the whole child. In
addition, parental involvement in fundraising, social activities, landscaping,
teacher support and so many other areas allows the school to minimize
tuition increases while still providing a rich educational environment.
St. Clare’s PIP Program requires each family to
volunteer at least 30 hours per year, or to pay a $200 PIP fee.* The Parent-Teacher Council (PTC) refunds
the $200 fee upon fulfillment of the 30 required hours. We ask parents to record hours via the honor
system, using the “Parent Involvement Hours Record Sheet” which can be
downloaded from the “Forms” section of the school’s website. The parent involvement volunteer year
runs from June 1, 2007 to May 31, 2008.
Please submit record sheets to PIP Coordinator, Becky Julien,
sbjulien@comcast.net, via backpack or email when you complete your 30 volunteer
hours. These completed PIP refund
request forms must be received no later than May 31, 2008 in order to receive a
refund! There are no carryovers
from year to year, all 30 hours must be completed and PIP coordinator must
receive PIP Hours Record Sheet in order to be reimbursed. The Parent-Teacher Council will issue your
PIP refund check upon confirmation and review of this information. Up to 10 hours that you volunteer at St.
Clare Church can count towards your 30 hours requirement.
Important note: Most of our parents give far more than 30
hours! Many even volunteer their 30+
hours and then still waive part or all of their $200 refund as an additional
above and beyond contribution to the school.
Please indicate on your record sheet if you are able to help in this
very special way.
To get involved,
please contact one of our Fundraising Committee Chairpersons or one of our
Parent Teacher Council Board members to see how you can get involved! Also feel free to contact the PIP
Coordinator, Becky Julien, 503.977.2934, if you have other questions. Thank you for giving of your time and talents
to our wonderful school.
Activities that DO NOT count toward PIP hours:
Helping
solicit Fitness Challenge sponsors
Coaching
for club sports/scouts/non-school sponsored clubs
*Single parents are
required to volunteer at least 15 hours per year, or pay a $100 PIP fee. Single parents are defined as those having no
spousal support, either in finances or in the raising of the children. Divorced families, where both parents are
taking part in the upbringing and finances of the child/ren, are considered
two- parent families and will be subject to the same guidelines and rules of
two-parent families. Final determination
of who is a “single parent” will be at the discretion of the principal.
