January
Dear
parents,
It's Happy Homework time again! This week we started
a science theme about winter, we began talking all about penguins. We would ask for some help on the homefront with our research. Here's how you can help:
Chat
with your child about our topic of winter just as we did at school.
Topics
could include the following (If you/your child has a different topic you would
like to research please feel free to do so just come talk to me first.)
Snowflakes:
How are they made? Why are they white?
Winter
weather: Here and all over the world.
Ice:
How is ice made? How does ice melt?
Eskimos,
Artic animals, Antarctic animals, North/South poles,
What
is the Chinese New Year? Who was Martin Luther King Jr.? What is Kwaanza?
Help
your child select a topic. Together, gather and study any materials you can
access. These books, tapes, videos will help your child create a piece of
research. This activity is meant to
remain simple so look for one or two key ideas or concepts. Perhaps a small picture board (no bigger than
11"x17") with a few pictures and simple sentence(s) will work. The most important part of this project is
that it is driven by your child's interests and ideas are able to be shared by
your child in class.
Any
materials sent to the class will be handled with TLC and will be returned
promptly at the end of our study.
I*m really looking forward to seeing your child*s work. Please have all projects returned by
Wednesday, January 23rd.
