Handwriting in
Kindergarten
Our school wide adopted
style of writing is “D’Nealian”.
In addition to their
handwriting practice books, the students will also have name-writing sheets to
help them learn to write their first and last names. In class we will have “Rainbow Writing,”
where the children will practice writing their names and the letters.
Here are a few hints to
help them with their writing:
1. Take
the extra name sheet and go make copies to practice at home.
2. Encourage
them to write with one capital and the rest of the letters lower case.
3. Let
them sign their name when appropriate.
4. Check
for correct pencil grip.
5. Set up a nice, quiet spot in your house
for them to do their homework and practice writing. Make sure they are able to use good posture and
have plenty of light.
6. Use
a pencil on writing projects and homework!
Most Importantly,
Let them do it
themselves!
