Directions

Step 1. Pictures and Words

Look in magazines for pictures and words that illustrate or represent the character(s), the setting, the plot, and other useful pieces of information such as the conflicts, favorite clothes, sports and hobbies, etc. Neatly cut out everything that you find that you think you might use on the collage.

Step 2. Assembling the Collage

©      Use an 11” x 17” (no bigger!) sheet of construction paper. Be sure to cover the whole paper.

©      Think about the arrangement of your pictures. The collage should tell the story. You can layer smaller pictures and/or words on top of larger pictures. You can put different words together to make short phrases.

©      Be sure to have neat edges when you are gluing down the pictures and words.

Step 3. Written or Typed Explanation

You need to write or type an explanation of the pictures and words that are on your collage so we have an understanding of the book you read. Be sure to include the title and the author in your written piece. This can be glued or taped to the back of your collage.
