Welcome to Mrs. Kreitzberg’s  6th Grade Math Class.

                 Basic Skills Tests

This year we will be implementing a basic skills test weekly.  This will help us pinpoint areas of strength in students as well as areas needing review or reteaching.  Students will not be expected to know all the skills as they cover topics introduced in 6th through 8th grades, but it should help to show us their growth.

This should allow us to have effective classroom reviews as we as assign individual work that addresses a student specific needs.

               3 weeks to focus.

The next three weeks as we approach the Christmas holiday are some of the hardest in which to keep students focused.  While we will still be working with fractions, some Geometry will be added to keep their interest.

         2nd Trimester

We will work with decimals in all basic operations, and then move into statistics. This unit covers the graphing that will be needed for their science projects.

Homework will be assigned daily.  Class time will be given to start the assignment.  If a student uses their time wisely, they may be able to finish in class.

Help in understanding homework is available everyday before school, at morning break, or noon recess.

You can always contact me with concerns or problems at my

email krtzberg@hevanet.com.

Tests   Students may make test corrections and add points back to their grade.  To do so they must explain, on a separate piece of paper, why they got the problem wrong and show the work to get the correct answer.  They may receive up to half of the points back.

Trimester Grades  These will be determined by averaging homework, class work, 40% and test, quiz scores 60%.
